So far this year, there have been 1,065 DUI arrests compared with 1,210 during the same period last year.
Kona officers arrested seven drivers, South Hilo nabbed six motorists and four drivers were arrested in Puna, according to the Hawaii Police Department..
There have been 1,411 major accidents so far this year compared with 1,231 during the same period last year.
So far this year, there have been 11 traffic fatalities on Hawaii Island compared with 25 during the same period last year. To date, three fatalities were related to drugs and three fatalities to a combination of drugs and alcohol.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide.
